Shayla L. Blake
Shayla Blake studied music at Stetson University and Texas Tech University in the studios of Geoffrey Gilbert , (flute) and William Westney (piano). As an undergraduate, she was a winner in the Texas Tech University Concerto Competition. After achieving a Bachelor’s Degree, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance, placing 1st Runner-up in the Texas Tech Graduate Concerto Competition.
Shayla currently is on faculty at the Louisiana Tech University School of Music where she teaches piano, flute, songwriting, choral arranging and serves as a collaborative pianist. She has also served as collaborative pianist at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Shayla has conducted choirs and instrumental ensembles of all ages. As a composer/arranger, she has choral and piano works published with Lorenz, Shawnee Press, Hal Leonard, and Fred Bock Music. Shayla is a volunteer coordinator for Nashville Songwriters Association International and is a member of ASCAP and MTNA.
